1. Warm and Cold Compresses

Using warm and cold compresses alternately can provide faster relief in gum swelling. The warm temperature improves blood circulation to the affected area and the cold temperature numbs the area for instant pain relief.


How to Use?

  • Soak a clean cloth in warm water
  • Wring out the excess liquid
  • Hold the cloth against the face for 5 minutes
  • Next, wrap a bag of frozen peas in a thin towel
  • Hold it against the face until the area becomes slightly numb
  • Repeat the cycle 2 or 3 more times
  • Use this remedy as needed
2. Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is also helpful in treating gum swelling as it has anti-bacterial property that fights bacteria and kills germs. Only 3 percent hydrogen peroxide solution is suitable for usage. It relieves gum inflammation and pain to a great extent.


How to Use?

  • Mix equal parts of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide solution and water
  • Swish the solution around the gums and teeth for 30 seconds
  • Rinse it off with warm water
  • Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with enough hydrogen peroxide to make a paste
  • Rub this paste on your gums
  • Wait for 1 minute and then rinse the mouth thoroughly with water
  • Repeat either of these treatments 2 or 3 times a week
  • Be careful not to swallow the solution
3. Turmeric

Turmeric is a great home remedy for swollen gums. It contains curcumin that has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. IT also prevents the spread of bacteria that causes oral problems.


How to Use?

  • Mix ¼ teaspoon of turmeric powder with a little water to make a paste
  • Apply this paste on the gums with clean finger
  • Leave it on for 5 minutes
  • Massage gently for 1 minute
  • Rinse the mouth with warm water
  • Repeat twice daily for 1 to 2 weeks
4. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is also an effective ingredient that is used in treating swollen and bleeding gums. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that prevent the growth of plaque-causing bacteria in the mouth. It also soothes the inflamed gums.


How to Use?

  • Cut open an aloe vera leaf to get the gel
  • With a clean finger, rub the gel on the gums
  • Gently massage for 1 to 2 minutes
  • Rinse with warm water

5. Oil Pulling

  • Mix a few drops of tea tree oil in a glass of warm water
  • Use it as a mouthwash twice daily
  • Brush the teeth with toothpaste containing tea tree oil as the main ingredient to ease discomfort

7. Vitamin D
