1. Asafetida

Asafetida is an excellent remedy to relieve gas pain in babies. It has anti-spasmodic and anti-flatulent properties that aids in digestion and relieves gas pain.


How to Use?

  • Dissolve a pinch of asafetida powder in 1 tablespoon of warm water
  • Apply it around child’s navel in a clockwise motion
  • Reapply as needed
  • You can also put a small amount of asafetida powder into a mashed ripe banana
  • Give it to the child to eat it a few times a day
  • Breastfeeding mothers can add half teaspoon of asafetida powder to a glass of warm water and drink it twice daily
2. Massage

Massage is yet another effective way to relieve gas pain in babies. It releases the trapped gas out of the intestine.


How to Use?

  • Rub some warm olive or mustard oil on your hands
  • Gently massage the baby’s tummy in a clockwise direction for 2 to 3 minutes
  • Then massage the back for 2 minutes to help relieve gas and promote sleep
  • Repeat several times a day
3. Warm Compress

Warm compress is also effectively releases gas and alleviates gas pain in babies. The warm temperature helps in expelling gas and relaxes the baby.


How to Use?

  • Soak a soft towel in hot water and squeeze out the excess water
  • Place the warm towel on the child’s tummy
  • When the towel cools down, replace it with a new warm one

  • Breastfeeding mothers can also drink this decoction
  • If the child can chew fennel seeds, then give ½ teaspoon of roasted fennel seeds a few times a day
5. Chamomile

Chamomile is an effective remedy for stomach ailments like gas pain in toddlers. It contains a compound that helps in reducing intestinal gas. This herb also helps in relaxing the muscles and promotes good sleep in babies.


How to Use?

  • Add ½ teaspoon of dried chamomile flowers to a cup of hot water
  • Cover and steep for 10 minutes
  • Strain, add a little raw honey
  • Allow it to cool to room temperature
  • Give the child 1 to 2 teaspoons of this tea several times a day
  • Breastfeeding mothers can drink a cup of chamomile tea 2 or 3 times a day
6. Cumin Seeds

Cumin seeds are an ayurvedic remedy that treats gas pain in babies effectively. It stimulates digestion and prevents the formation of gas.


How to Use?

  • Boil 1 cup of water with ½ teaspoon of cumin seeds for 5 minutes
  • Allow the water to cool
  • Give 1 tablespoon of this solution to the child a few times a day
7. Water

Lesser fluid intake also leads to gas pain in babies. Drinking water is necessary for smooth functioning of the digestive system. It also helps in expelling the gas and prevent constipation.


How to Use?

  • Make sure the child drinks enough water throughout the day
  • If possible, give the child warm water to drink as it aids digestion
  • In addition to water, you can also give fresh fruit juice, clear soup and cold milk
  • You can give flavored water to your child, but only after consulting your doctor
  • Avoid fizzy drinks like soda that can worsen the condition
8. Fiber-Rich Food

Fiber is essential for smooth digestion and to prevent gas formation. It helps in faster movement of the food through the intestines. It also helps in preventing constipation.
