But one should be careful with the cancer causing agents such as parabens. Hence it is better to opt for natural ways to soften the hands by using the following home remedies.

1. Olive Oil

Olive oil is rich in antioxidants and healthy fatty acids. It is very good for the skin and hair. It can help in achieving softer and younger-looking hands in no time. It also has anti-aging benefits that firms the skin and makes the skin look younger despite the old age.

How to Use?

  • Massage the hands with some warm olive oil for 5 to 10 minutes
  • Repeat this twice daily to get soft and smooth hands
  • You can also mix equal amounts of sugar and olive oil to make a scrub
  • Scrub it on the hands and palms in circular motions for few minutes
  • Leave it on for 5 minutes and then rinse it off using warm water
  • Pat dry and apply a good quality hand cream
  • Do this twice a week to soften the hands
2. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is yet another effective ingredient when it comes to treating rough and dry hands. It has medium chain fatty acids that doesn’t clog the pores and nourishes the skin from within. It also soothes the skin damages by exposure to the Sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiations.

  • Heat some coconut oil in the microwave for few seconds
  • Apply in on the hands and massage for about 5 minutes before going to the bed
  • Wear gloves overnight for best results

  • You may also use grapeseed oil, jojoba oil or almond oil for the massage
3. Honey

  • Apply little honey all over the hands
  • Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes

  • Alternatively you may also mix equal amount of water to honey and glycerin and apply it on the hands
  • Wait for 10 minutes and then rinse it off using lukewarm water
  • Another option is to add a few drops of lemon juice, olive oil and 2 teaspoons of honey
  • Apply it on the hands and allow it to dry
  • Rinse it off with lukewarm water and do this remedy few times a week
4. Milk Cream

The fat content in the milk cream acts as a natural moisturizer and helps in treating rough and dry hands. In addition, the lactic acid in it helps in exfoliating the dry skin and maintains the skin’s pH levels.

  • Take some fresh milk cream and rub it on both hands
  • Allow it to sit for 10 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water
  • Alternatively, you may also mix together 2 teaspoons of milk cream and 2 tablespoons of gram flour
  • Apply this paste on the hands and leave it for 15 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water
  • Repeat this remedy 2 to 3 times a week
5. Oatmeal

Oatmeal is great for the skin due to its exfoliating properties. It cleanses the skin deeply and removes the dead skin cells. It also consists of protein that prevents water loss and leeps the skin moisturized.

  • Prepare a mixture with 2 tablespoons of freshly ground oatmeal and half teaspoon of honey and little water just enough to bind it into a thick paste
  • You can also squeeze lemon juice and rub the mixture on the hands
  • Leave it on for 10 minutes and then rinse it off using lukewarm water
  • Repeat this remedy at least once a week to get soft hands
6. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is naturally available and is rich in vitamin E. It helps in retaining moisture in the dry hands. It also forms a protective layer on the skin and improves the skin texture.

  • Slit open an aloe vera leaf and extract the gel
  • Apply it on the hands and massage it in circular motions until it gets absorbed
  • Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse it off using lukewarm water
